Whatsup y'all :)

First and foremost, let me say that this post was scheduled. But I'll be back in no time to respond to all your lovely comments. Y'all make my day anyday, anytime.
Have I mentioned how great you are lately? *.*

*Now trying to take a seat*  LOL

This was at my church yesterday
The cold just wouldn't let me think straight :)

So today I'm just going to be talking. I don't do this is a lot, but let's give it a shot cause that's just the way I  feel.
How is everyone? How was your weekend?

A little about mine and my week.
I had to do these medical examinations for school. This semester we have to deal with kids so we had to do a series of tests, more than the ones we usually do, that is.
Boy! Tres enervating! Especially since the hospitals/labs for almost all the tests just had to be situated in different parts of the city (like completely opposite worlds apart). I had to travel from one part to the other and I still don't understand why it so happened that they couldn't just be close to each other. One I still strongly want to refer to it as the outskirts abeg!  For the first time in my life I had to spend 50mins straight in a bus for a journey within the city and another 50 back. I looked for how to navigate some of the routes but really that was the easiest way to it. It's good though 'cause I got to view a different part of the city.

Talking about the tests. I think it's not enough sef, they can like to look for more tests. I mean how can our lives be easy without them? Jeez! Hep B, HIV, Lues serology test, dermatology, blood pressure, xray imaging, throat culture, fecal culture, overall health staus.. Na wah! That is all my body o. They had to check what's inside my stomach before I can start my clinical practice?! LOL

The fecal culture test wasn't funny at all. Guess what? It was the one I had to make the approximately 1hr journey for. Imagine carrying my stool on me for 1hr sigh!

Another funny one was the Lues serology test, the lady kept hearing "HIV".
Me:  Ma'am, I know for some reasons, you think it just had to be HIV, but I'm here for Lues serology, do you mind? *Insert straight face here*
(It just had to be HIV, abi with my skin colour, what else would it be? hiss!)
I'm so happy I won't have to do any of these tests again. Hopefully! Not funny at all.
I  heard we'll have more tests during the practice tho, but I think if you could meet these ones, I think that one shouldn't be a problem. I guess it'll be more like physical examinations of some sort. I'm just wondering what would happen if someone was positive for any of the tests. Drop out or what?  After how many years of studies? 'cause these practices are very important for us.
Anyway, I'm so happy I was able to finish everything, I met all the requirements and can start my practices soon. I might be updating you guys on that one too. It's always an experience.

Ok and I must tell you about this other experience. I went to this restaurant with a friend and he's very enthusiastic about food so I just felt like I could really bank on his suggestion.
Boy, when the food came, I saw something that was shaped like a nice flower. It was really beautiful.  I took a bite and then some more, and just afterwards it came like a real light bulb moment, "that's an octopus right?"
And he answers very calmly "yea"
"No! I'm not supposed to be eating an octopus" hahahaha
Anyway, one more feather to my cap, what can I say? At least I've eaten an octopus.*fanning myself*
Next stop, a frog or maybe a snake :P

LOL I'm not sure I can try it again though. I won't forget the feeling I had when I got back. I had to immediately start 'googling' the pictures to familiarize myself with the real image again.

Nyama!

Smh! Yea you guessed right! It was not a totally pleasant feeling tho :)

Finally, It's been raining heavily here. I'm not in my best moments, somebody remember to say something nice ok? LOL just kidding, don't mind me, it's not that serious.

It felt so good coming around to talk like this. I'll sure do it again.
Don't forget to tell me how you like these sort of posts tho ;)

Have a great week everyone

One lovely blog award + Random me and more Random mes :)

And I have my second award from the sweet Uduak (Uduak - Finally me.blogspot.com)
She thinks my blog is lovely and I think she is so lovely :)
Thanks lovely, I appreciate it a lot

The rules:
I. Answer the questions below
II. Tell seven random things about yourself
III. Pass the award to 15 other bloggers

Nothing good comes easy guys :)
So I have to do that first

Sigh task! Let's get to it already :)

I. Questions

1. Name your favorite colour
It depends. I love to look at pink, I love to wear something in a shade of blue or black. Well it should be one, sadly, I can't narrow it down sorry :)
2. Name your favorite song
It changes a lot, right now it is "Pot belly" by Freshly Ground
3. Name your favorite dessert
Ice cream and fruits
4. What pisses you off?
Fake people piss me off a whole lot
5. Your favorite pet?
Puppies, when they become big dogs, then it should be time to send them off or maybe stuffed animals so they never grow out of their cute size :)
6. Black or white?
Black
7. Your biggest fear?
Failure! I dread it that sometimes it kinda inhibits me from taking risks
8. Everyday attitude?
Positive energy all the way
9. Your best feature?
I think I love my nails vewy much *.*
10. What is perfection?
A life directed by God
11. My guilty pleasure
My sweet tooth :)

II. Seven random things about me

1. I can't wait to be done with school for a while :(

2. I love visiting new places but I hate the stress that accompanies travelling. The preparatory procedures, the process itself and the aftermath. Only the stress at airports alone will make me just want to have second thoughts  :)

3. I think I have an idea of what I want my dream house to look like. Not exactly, but I do know some things that shouldn't be missing in it already #dreamysigh :)

4. I hate routines. Whatever I have to do over and over again drains me out easily. I prefer to just do something one time, give it my all and get it over with; but yea, life is not that easy :(

5.  I prefer listening to music than watching a movie. Music will always be my first love :)

6. And that's because I love to dance, you already know this, don't you? :D

7. I love black. I literally always try to blend black into almost every outfit, that is when I have to do colours; but sometimes, it can get as bad as an all black ensemble. I don't like to say this because people will easily describe you as a very gloomy person. But I just have a thing for black outfits.

Now unto the next level.

III.Tagging other bloggers.

1. Hannah http://crushthots.blogspot.com
2. Didi  http://didis-view.blogspot.com
3. Myne Whitman http://www.mynewhitmanwrites.com
4. Stellz http://thespringinmysteps.blogspot.com

6. Adiya  http://museorigins.blogspot.com
7. MsNana http://simplymsnana.blogspot.com/
8. Gretel http://gretel-premonitionofthepast.blogspot.com
9. Ms. Buki http://msbukiwrites.blogspot.com
10. Chic therapy http://chictherapyonline.blogspot.com
11. 9jafoodie http://littlemissgastronome.blogspot.com
12. Nikkisho http://nikkisho.blogspot.com
13. Gbemisoke http://gbemisoke.blogspot.com/
14. Dammy Jewel http://dammyjewel.blogspot.com
15. Ema leecious http://www.bellezworld4real.blogspot.com

Pheww!

And Ms Buki also tagged me to do  the "10 random things about myself" challenge, so I'll just add 3 more with the 7 up there and voila, that will be a done deal :)

8. I hate walking on the streets when it rains or just finished raining. I feel so irritated 'cause it makes everywhere seem so dirty. And sometimes I feel like scratching myself from head to toe if I get to a very dirty place that is all wet.

9. I love working out. Someone said I have too much energy and I'm always looking for how to put it to use lol

10. I miss my family. The last time I saw them was summer last year and I can't wait to see them again.

Killing 2 birds with one stone. How brilliant is that? :)

So there you have it. That wasn't so hard or was it? I'll like to pretend it wasn't :)
Have a great week lovelies!!!

Team beautiful

I must say that I am indeed appalled at what my eyes have seen and my ears have heard these past few days. Being less busy (thanks to summer hols) has left me in a constant search for what to read, hence I find myself visiting a lot of blogs these days.

Let me start off with this question directed to the ladies! Please can someone explain what's with us? 'cause I've been trying to fathom this for a while but it just eludes me.
It's not enough that we've managed to establish the broad colored and white categories, we had to make it worse with more subdivisions.
Like what is dark-black girl? or light-skinned black girl? And I remember how some of them will quickly want to add, African-American-light-skinned-black girl.
Like why all the fuss, debates and controversy?
Seriously do you notice that boys do not do all that brunette, blonde, red haired thing? But we just strongly believe that it is very important when describing a girl.
That's why their life is a lot easier, boys I mean! Sometimes I envy them a lot. The way they can easily tolerate each others inadequacies.

I was so dazed when I saw the traces of yet another subdivision everywhere.
So now we've succeeded in adding  'team relaxer', 'team natural' and 'team weaves' to it,  and all these only in the 'african hair' community alone.
Why?! I can completely understand if these sorta descriptions is to specify a certain interest (e.g a specific beauty product applicable to a particular group), that's quite comprehensible; BUT for people that adopted these terms for the purpose of some sort of segregation, I've got only one sentence for you "Come off your high horse and face reality, you're not any better"

Sincerly, I don't know where I'd belong because I find myself in all of those aforementioned groups.
I do almost everything to my hair. I don't like sticking to one look because I consider it very boring. Whatever I think is beautiful, I go for it. I was *natural (no relaxers) for one year, and then I stopped. The hard work and basically the stress was very discouraging. It wasn't even easy esp when I had to run off for an early morning lecture. As if that wasn't enough, winter decided to deal me a hard blow by chopping a lot of it off.
I relaxed my hair, basically that's my easiest summer look. Well cut, highlighted and relaxed and I have my reasons for that. A little relaxer in it is a much easier job for me and that is exclusively my business. That's what technology and embracing life is all about, things can be done differently. Sometimes I think weaves or even braiding them will give me a different look, I explore it. Or even when I try to get them long or with brilliant curls, I choose one of the options I consider the most suitable. There should really be no restrictions regarding this at all. Some people can go through the stress of relaxer and weaves, some people just cannot. And some can go through the stress of managing afro hair, it is just a choice. Like I stated earlier, I have been through all those phases - relaxed, weaves, natural and I can clearly say that each and every one of them comes with it's peculiar hurdles. There's no need trying to be ethnocentric about it. Just choose the one that suits your preferences and take a chill pill.

I'm just imagining how hard it would have been for Obama to win. We already know he had that 'No he's black' or 'yes he's black' going for him. I'm sure if he were to be a girl, we would have heard talks like, 'no, she's team relaxer' and oh no she's got some weaves on too.
It's ridiculous, sounds very foolish and immature! If I think about this like this as a girl, I can imagine guys reading some of these comments and statements sometimes and just basically STH!

Why can't we just do the team beautiful (keep your description of beautiful to yourself) and forget all these unnecessary wanting to be better? What's it with all the unnecessary distinctions?
Very soon, I tell you team natural will again be divided to afro, curls and locks. Trust me it can only get better. I'll be so embarrassed as a girl to hear about some stupid "hair war".

Please your hair is only a minute part of you, not everything.  'Team afros' please, it doesn't make you more African, and 'team weaves' and 'relaxer', it doesn't make you more westernized either. Please everybody take note!!! To each their own, as long as it makes you comfortable and most importantly, BEAUTIFUL! God forbid that you try to rock something that looks rather disheveled on you than beautiful.

If you do not have any idea of this ongoing debate, probably it's even the first time you are going to have to think about this as an issue, then click here to witness an attempt to tackle this menace at blogtalkradio.com

This would never be complete without this song. I am not my hair by India Arie ft Pink
If I know anybody that likes to rock 'natural', it's India Arie. But if she could boldly sing 'I am not my hair' I don't know who else can represent this statement more. And we know Pink likes to change that thing like nobody's got anything on her. Here you have it, EnjoY!

And of course, a few pics of me rocking all your 'teams'
So go ahead, let's see you try to define me now :P

Aint I just beautiful in all of them? :)

P.S Pheww! Sorry for just going on and on. Usually when I rant like this, I don't hit the "publish" tab but mehn, I just had to for this particular topic. I hope the pics and the music made up for the annoying rant? *-*
I'm a joker I know, but I'm pretty sure that's why you love me :)

Sunshine award

Hey y'all
I was given this beautiful sunshine award by Didi

I love anything sunshine. It depicts joys, smiles, laughter, fun...(I guess this everyday rain has done something to my cognition right now). It's been raining cats, bulldogs, infact dragons for the past few days in Budapest. I just want to go out not worrying about this annoying rain.
Ok you see how frustrated I am about rainy days? That's to show you exactly how much this sunshine award means to me. Not just because it is an award, but also because it is a 'sunshine award'.
Thanks Didi,  I really appreciate this.

In accordance to the rules surrounding this award, I have to pass this on to 10 other bloggers, so here we go.
First off, I must say that 10 is very restrictive but I'll try to do my best.
I am very sure that my best will still not do any justice to this because y'all are tres awesome but hey! I have to do this; stop the procrastination girl! (Talking to myself! SMH it happens a lot Lol)

So I'll just try to use the blogs that I enjoy reading as the basis for this and it's in no particular order

1. Didi
10. Linda Ikeji

Thanks peeps! You help me with some of those boring moments.
Please pardon me, I need to add this new blog I just discovered Gbemisoke
She's too inspiring to be left out of this.
 Pardoned? Thank you :)
Hmm one more? Lol

I'll also like to avail myself of this opportunity and wish everyone some sunshine for July too.
You're going to have it anyway, it's July, but I'm wishing you one that comes with smiles and everything good.

P.s Especially to my good friends that are graduating tomorrow. I pray the rain doesn't come around at all because y'all deserve a great time.

Have a fruitful July everyone!

What is in my bag?

I was tagged by my extremely funny friend (I mean it in a complimentary way 'cos I know I do use that for strange people too) and fellow blogger Sisi Yemmie on this "what's in your bag?" meme.
Thanks for the tag miss!
Click on her name to check her blog, you'll laugh your heart out and also get your Nigerian pidgin English vocab really updated.

This meme requires that:
1. I take a picture of my bag
2.Talk about the bag
3. Empty it's contents
4. Take a picture of the contents
5. Talk about the contents

So here we go

The bag

It was a birthday gift from a darling friend. I like the colour cos I can pretty much match it with anything.  I also like it because it's big enough to accommodate the things I want to and at the same time still looks small enough to complement my petite frame :)

I can close/open the clips at the side to make it smaller or bigger plus it has 3 compartments, I can conveniently carry my school notebooks in it too.

The contents:

Sorry I didn't label them but they are quite obvious and I'll try to be consistent and go from top till I get to the bottom.

1. My stationery bag - I left it open so maybe you can try to make out what's inside if you need to. It has my usb drive, mini stapler, paper glue, text highlighter, correcting fluid, pencil, eraser, sharpener, paper clips, pens- different colours.... blue, red...
Ok guys I'm a student and I like to always have all my things in place. I'm not a mobile stationery shop :)

2. Sunglasses - A must have now. Important to shield your eyes from the sun

3.Budapest times - One of the very few English tabloids you can find around here. I try to stay updated with what's happening around me. I try to make sure that I finish it before every week runs out because it's a weekly publication so I carry it around and digest it at the slightest available opportunity.

4. Hand cream -For all the apparent reasons

5. Wallet - Everything you can think of in a wallet; money, cards, and it has a nice compartment for coins too. I love it.

6. Note pad - Something creative might just come up at odd times and for other valuable informations that I don't want to miss. You never know when you'll learn something new.

7. Journal - Important dates, to do lists....

8. Pocket tissues -Sneezing, sweating, drying my hands after washing them...and the many more functions they can serve

9. Umbrella - I hate to run around like a chicken, and I don't always remember (more like bother) to check the forecast so it's easier to just keep one in my bag and get on the move.

10. Phones - Communication is important :)

11.Music player & Ear phones - When I need to quickly get my music dose

12. Chewing gum - I carry a whole bottle LOL. I just love that fresh breath and minty blast. If you're talking to me and I can even perceive something as much as garlic smell oozing out, I'll offer it sorry or I might just puke from trying to pretend.

13. Tic-Tac - Sometimes gum is just too stressful and unbearable, so yea there's tic tac  :)

14. My lil bag - Give it a name, I'll tell you what it contains. My hand disinfectant, a little nail file, lip balm, wet wipes, purple song, mirror and brush. I don't like them scattered all around my bag so I keep them in that bag.
If I'd emptied it, this is what it'd look like

So I'll try to talk about the contents now

15. Cynex lip balm - This particular one comes in pink shade. I hate my lips going dry so this works to keep it moisturized while also giving it a nice pinky look and adds some sheen to it. It's the best thing ever since I don't carry makeup around. Before I found this, I used to carry lip balm and lip gloss but now, once I use this one, it does the magic :)

16. Fragrance - I love fragrances so I just love to always have a little bottle of something with me. This is a tiny one from pimkie called purple song.

17. Nail file - I carry my natural nails. I hate it when it cracks or gets a little rough. I try to plan for how I can fix it quickly if it happens when I'm not at home and that little file comes in very handy.

18. Pocket wet wipes - Incase I need to take something off my face or I just need to wipe my hands until I can wash them.

19. Hand disinfectant - Dealing a lot with patients and the hospital has taught me to use this regularly. Using it almost everytime now has almost become a reflex. (BTW, I study physiotherapy, just incase you're wondering what I'm doing with patients and hospital.)

20. Brush case with mirror - I love this little brush and mirror case. It's portable & it's just so convenient that it has both things in one little case

21. The tiny band on the mirror in the previous picture(the one before the last one I posted) is for my hair. I like to carry something I can hold my hair with if I need to. I leave it in the case just like that.

22. And  finally, but very important, my key set. It keeps trying to escape this (It was at the top in the first picture now it's the tiny thing that you can almost not see beside my little bag). Of course I need one if I don't want to sleep on the streets.

There you have it peeps. I hope you liked it. (*Hides face* cos I know it was just so boring)

Apparently I'm one of the last people to do this. Almost everyone has already done this. I mean it's like a flu that has captured all the female bloggers so I'll just say if you haven't done it and would like to, just let me know and I'll tag you.
I'll just go ahead and tag 5 people that I'm sure I haven't seen any post from them on this.
1. Dangel eyes - My model, open your bag, let's see what models carry around:)
2. Naomi Lucas - I recently discovered her blog. I think we kinda have a similar writing style. She's been tagged already by Sisi yemmie so this should be a nice reminder. Open your bag miss :)
3. Simply chic -  I haven't seen what a simple chic carries in her bag yet.
4. Darbie - I don't think I've seen yours too.
5. And finally Coy introvert - my most recent blog discovery.

...... and more tags!

Waiting to snoop around some more :)

Kick the loads off

For this "new month's" post, I'll be dedicating it to a good cause.
It's for people trying to fight excess weight.

But before that, I want to say welcome to sunny days Yes!!!  (except for some drops of rain a few now and then, trying  to mess up the whole fun)

You'll agree with me that one thing that is common with the summer is people trying to show off their six packs and well toned body on a nice skimpy outfit. You don't blame them, when it gets too hot, you just want to rip off everything and just go bare LOL!!!
During the winter, I try to add as much weight as I can but during the summer I don't bother so much tho. Wanna know why?--- Apparently, cold has not dealt with your skinny ass before :)
Well seriously, the fat helps a lot with heat combustion.
That notwithstanding, there's nothing as repelling as fat layers spilling out of your dress, so please if you still have those lil muffin tops(fats around your abdominal area), you might want to still leave some heavy clothes on no matter how hot it may be until you can get rid of them :)

Apart from trying to go cool and trendy, lets look at the dangers of being overweight to health.

It has been known to be the predominant risk factor for several disease conditions which include:
-Hypertension - Increase in blood pressure
-Dyslipidemia - Disorders of lipid metabolism in the blood
- Cardiovascular diseases- Diseases affecting the heart and blood vessels
-Osteoarthritis - Degenerative disease of the joints of the body
-Respiratory diseases
-Diabetes melitus (type 2)
-Stroke
-Gall bladder diseases
-Sleep disturbances
                                 .....................!

If Jennifer Hudson could transform from this

to this

There's nothing impossible sweetheart, you too can do it...

Most of the things you need are those you can find right within you. If you would just search a little deeper, I'm sure you can find 'em. You'll need diligence, perseverance, hard-work, zeal, creativity....

And....of course I know you'll need some motivation too, so I'm sending some your way already

This video is a simple illustration of how you can use dancing to attain your goal of staying fit and healthy. You do not need well defined professional moves. The goal is to move your body for a considerably long period of time to effect some tension on your fat deposits which will cause them to burn out.

... Hold on, I'm not done yet with the motivation

Me in the middle of some workout ;)

And yet another one :)

Hope that helped?
Stay healthy peeps!!!

Enjoy your May!

Summer 2010!

Hello blogville! Enjoying your summer holiday? Cos I am :)

With my previous post, I'm sure you would have received a little hint that I love music, true that! But that cannot even be compared to the love I have for dance.
Sometimes I like to believe that I love music just because it inspires me to dance or more like it brings out the best moves I could ever think of.

Well I'm a professional dancer but I'm also schooling, so that leaves me with always having to balance things up. I try to stay very focused and busy with school when school demands that I do, and I also dance myself out enough to last me for a longtime when I have the opportunity to, with that everything is well equated.
I was so busy during the year that there was not enough room to do a lot with dancing though I was able to perform a few times, still it just didn't seem satisfying. Thus this summer I promised I was going to do a lot to my dancing skills, enough to make up for all the lost opportunities. It's as though I always have a lot of opportunities when I'm very weighed down with school responsibilities.
I finished my exams early and started searching; maybe register with some very great dance teacher, or perform with other talented dancers, or have a very challenging performance that would require my working a lot on myself to be able to give it my best. I was looking for anything, just anything to put me back in form. All my efforts to get something interesting and inspiring just seemed to be very abortive.
Gosh! how could I not dance during this long holidays? The thought of it was sickening!
Well just when I had given up and decided to look for other ways to enjoy my holiday, the offers started rolling in. At a point it became too demanding that I had to pray not to break down.
I danced, I learnt, I taught and even had to talk about dance at a show.
I have been so busy and that is why this is coming a little late, but it's for real the best experience to make a great summer.

I just hopped in to wish everyone a very fruitful new month,
yea I couldn't forget that September is here :)
Happy September 2010!
